The Best Instagram-Worthy Spots in Lake Tahoe
1. Emerald Bay Main Viewpoint
If you’re searching for the best Instagram-worthy spots near Lake Tahoe, the Emerald Bay Main Viewpoint should be at the top of your list. This incredible lookout near South Lake Tahoe sits on the side of the highway and boasts arguably the best view of the lake. The vantage point provides a stunning panoramic view of the bay, mountains, and towering trees. You can take excellent photography here year-round, but fall and winter offer the most stunning scenes.
2. Fire Lookout
You can gaze out across the entirety of Lake Tahoe from the Fire Lookout near the California-Nevada border on the north side of the lake. The hike from the small parking area is about a mile and a half and takes you to one of the most scenic spots in our area. You can take 360-degree photos of the lake, mountains, and forests surrounding our Northern California wilderness, capturing the true essence of Lake Tahoe.
3. Eagle Falls
Eagle Falls is right around the corner from the Emerald Bay viewpoint and features a unique photo-op. Both the Upper and Lower Eagle Falls offer a great vantage point, but the upper falls allow better access to the areas above and below this natural wonder.
4. Squaw Valley Aerial Tram
The Squaw Valley Aerial Tram is one of the most Instagram-worthy spots near Lake Tahoe. The tram is open throughout the winter and the summer and provides you with incredible lookout points. You can capture images of the granite mountains, beautiful treetops, and breathtaking Squaw Valley.
5. Bonsai Rock
Head over to the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe for another iconic Instagram-worthy spot. This unique rock features cracks with stunted trees sprouting that resemble bonsai trees. This is one of the best places to capture Lake Tahoe’s spirit in one frame. There is a small parking area on the side of Highway 28 and a short trail that leads to the shore where you can snap a couple of photos of Bonsai Rock.
