The Top Lake Tahoe Mountain Biking
1. Tahoe Rim Trail
If you’re searching for miles and miles of Lake Tahoe mountain biking trails, look no further than the Tahoe Rim Trail. This massive loop consists of over 165 miles of trail that weaves and winds around the entire lake. While most won’t bike the entire trail (which would be incredibly exhausting and take a full day), we suggest taking on small stretches of the path on the California side of Lake Tahoe. You’ll find gorgeous meadows, stunning waterfalls, and endless views of the beautiful surrounding mountains.
2. Northstar Bike Trail
You’ll find downhill mountain biking at its best at the Northstar at Tahoe. This winter ski area outside of Truckee turns into a biker’s paradise in the summer, with tons of exciting downhill runs that will have your heart racing. You can even hone your mountain biking craft at the Specialized Bike Academy. Once you arrive here, you have the opportunity to choose from a variety of trails that make up a network of over 100 miles of trails.
3. Hole in the Ground
The Hole in the Ground is a 17-mile route that takes riders through a series of switchbacks and rocky technicals chunks. Advanced mountain bikers will love this path that you can also extend into a longer ride on the Donner Rim Trail.
4. Donner Lake Rim Trail
Speaking of the Donner Lake Rim Trail, this single-track mountain biking trail near Lake Tahoe is a fantastic day ride. Plenty of technical granite runs along with a thrilling downhill in the middle of the path. It’s about an eight-mile trek that’s perfect for a sunny afternoon.
5. Tahoe Flume Trail
The Tahoe Flume Trail offers some of the most breathtaking views of the deep blue waters of our lake. There is a decent amount of climbing and descending throughout the 25-mile stretch, but those with a fear of heights may not love a few exposed areas. This is still one of the best mountain biking trails in the Lake Tahoe region.
